What is SEO? – Some Basic SEO Tips
Google is a word which is known to even a two year old kid. In the internet era, where all information you need is posted on the web SEO plays a vital role. SEO stands for search engine optimisation. As the name suggest it basically deals with improving the prominence of your site. There are millions of web pages for one single word you type in a search engine. Hence it becomes even more important as a site owner to make the server noticeable.
SEO update the website by editing the HTML and the content of it. The key things kept in mind while editing are mostly working of search engines, keywords typed for searching and preferred engine by the customer. There are many companies who offer to design the websites completely so that the volume and traffic quality is improved on the website. The main two techniques which categorize SEO are as follows.
- White hat SEO: The accurate technique which uses ethical ways of designing the website. The main focus is on human audience and hence rules are obeyed.
- Black hat SEO: Unethical technique not focussing on human audience. Forceful strategies directing only towards search engines. The sites are usually banned after some time.
Achieving top ranking in a search engine such as Google, yahoo, Bing, msn etc. is not an easy job. Many key things should be kept in mind while designing the website. Few advices regarding this are given below.
- Multiple domains are good when there is a lot of information on different topics.
- Usage keyword in domain helps in highlighting the website effectively.
- Correct TLD with regard to the geographical area is important to categorize your domain. This keeps you region specific priority.
- Have sub sections containing the key words.
- Build many links and give titles to the links. This helps the search engine to recognise your web page better.
- Site map or navigation system is important. Helps the search engine to find your domain easily.
- Highlight your keywords. Bold them to make it easily visible.
- Good content is must. Distinctive and well written content fetch you readers.
Tips mentioned above helps to make the web site listed in first few options of the search engine. Following them will help you popularize your page.

Offpage factors are the most challenging SEO determinants to manipulate. Poor offpage SEO will just undermine valuable and keyword-rich content.

This is good brief introduction of SEO, actually, I would rearrange the bullet points and highlight the most important one. I think content and link building are most important part of SEO, but those need to go hand in hand with competitor analysis and on-page optimization.

Everything matters in SEO, from design though meta tags, back links and even images. All operations is SEO need to be performed properly and consistently.
After recent update you have to be more observant of the content you provide on your site. Providing you do well rounded SEO taking everything into account with on page and off page linking factors you should have any trouble getting into the search engines.
After the Panda update i have found content to be the most important factor for SEO by a mile.

I’d like to add that links from authoritative sites (Search for High PR sites) get more weight than low authority sites.

Black hat seo might give you the highest ranking but for what purpose if after some time your site will be banned from multiple search engines.
