| August 25, 2010 | 12 Comments More

Since the launch of iPhone 4 , there has been a lot of buzz among iphone users to Jailbreak Iphone 4 . In this scenario I would like to clear the air and bring some info to my readers about iphone jailbreak.

What is Jailbreaking ?

Jailbreaking is a process that allows iDevices like Iphone 4 and upcoming next generation iPod Touch 4 users to run any code on their devices, as opposed to only that code authorized by by Apple iOS firmware . Technical speaking , jailbreak hack allows users to gain access to the entire Unix file system.

Advantages of Jailbreaking :

This is the next obvious question , why should i jailbreak my iDevice when it comes with so many features already . Here are few points :

1. It enables you to install Cydia , and AppStore like Application Storehouse

2. It enables you to use MyWi , a Wi-Fi hot-spot client app , available through Cydia

3. Unlock from your carrier

4. Use Call Monitoring software like iBlacklist

Along with the mentioned features , it enables more tweaks that can be done to an iphone, ipad or ipod touch . However jailbreaking has its downside too.

Problems of jailbreaking :

1. It can brick your device . i.e. it would stop working , dead

2. It can corrupt firmware

3. Cause battery and functionality issues

4. Incompatibility for many apps which can’t work together

5. Display problems

6. Crash while using the device

The advantage comes along with troubles , however most issues can be fixed , and restore can be done anytime using iTunes. I hope to have cleared few doubts. Please use the comment box below to ask me any queries that you may have.

Honestly, I am not a big fan of iPhones and I hear about jailbraking for first time. I have an iPhone just to test my websites in iPhone browser as usually there are many visits and viewing it on iphone is problematic.

  5. Exploring with other things is not bad but if it’s too much I think it will get worst. We need always to bear in mind that if there is the good side, there is the bad side…so beware. =)
