  9. Nice stat, and that tell us why should we conserve energy. Big companies using natural power plant to save energy and we should do the same. At least we should use blackle.com instead of Google home page to save some search energy.

  10. Ankit says:

I know that it would be a tough task for Google to reduce features to save energy, but why can’t we?

If each time we surf the internet an enormous amount of energy is used, then if we (bloggers) compress our server files.. I think a lot of energy could be saved (although million of blogs are powered by WP and it could be easily compresssed). What say?

  11. Nice infographic :) we all need to save energy.

Thanks for informing me on this topic! I never would have guessed that Google uses so much electricity for each search! That’s enough to power so many homes! It’s nuts!

  14. Every bit counts, like turning of the tap, and the lights and appliances that are not in use. It does scare me a little bit when I see that one Google search consumes enough energy to power a 100Watt lightbulb for 11 seconds. It means I’ll have to start searching less, it seems ;-)

  15. That’s scary… 824 years of breathing for Google searches in one month… Wow! Would this mean that Google will go green in the near future? :-)
