The Best And The Most Effective Link Building Techniques
With web spam growing in leaps and bounds, black hater’s blasting off thousands of profile links and spam comments using automated tools every day are there any good and effective link building techniques left that’s not saturated and would help us crawl up the SERPS?
I would say yes. Though the black hater’s may succeed in a short span but there joy won’t last long. As Google is now very serious about such spammers and is taking some serious measures eliminating them.
The recent Panda/Farmer update and 500 more such tweaks coming up to Google’s algorithm shows how concerned Google is about web spam.
Now in such a scenario one must be careful and practice SEO techniques that would not only help them in SERPS but also build reputation and trust in Google’s eyes.
As far as I know there are 4 such effective link building strategies that would not only boost up your search rankings but also will help you gain authority and a loyal reader base.
1) Creating High quality and unique Content: Nothing new I have pointed out here as there has always been this saying “Content is the king” but I would still like to specifically emphasize on the word HIGH QUALITY as I’m referring to be able to create content that is something out of the box. Rewriting the stuff available on tens of other websites won’t make it.
Well researched and unique content listed down with informative points creates link bait. It makes other websites want to link to yours and you get some natural back links. This is by far the best way to get high quality backlinks.
2) Guest posting: Another way to get high quality lick juice to your blog or business is to guest post on other blogs in similar niche. This is a win win situation for both the blog you are posting in and you as you will be getting free back links and traffic and they will be getting some valuable content.
3) Social bookmarking: Social bookmarking though has been saturated is still a very effective way to tell Google that you have good content.
Promoting your content in Twitter and Facebook is also considered as an effective link building/SEO strategy. Google launching its own +1 scheme shows how much importance user opinion has.
4) Blog commenting: I won’t rate this as an A rated technique but yes blog comments from relevant DO FOLLOW blogs do add some value to your site. It is best to comment on relevant blogs but again not just for back links but the approach should be in a way that you really contribute or make a valid point while commenting.

These ideas here are definitely good for the basics, and for most people, these are enough. With social bookmarking and commenting alone, I was doubling my blog traffic every month, so the basics work!

I actually wouldn’t regard these strategies as “basics”. I.e. guest posting is THE BEST way to get good links, and it can take some time to source the right sites and provide the right content.

I would still consider them “basic” and here’s why: all the points of advice listed here are the same advice you can find on dozens of blogs discussing SEO, link-building, traffic generation, etc. They all say this same thing.
That’s not bad; in fact, it’s great. There’s a reason these are the best pieces of advice. They’re the basics, and if you want to succeed, you need to master the basics before you can move on to fancier or more advanced techniques.

These techniques survive all these algo changes because they are basic and simply works. No cheats, no shortcuts.
You are right, content is the king! But more importantly, we have to create good quality content, then it will certainly worth more!

To some extends, I agree, but social bookmarks and blog commenting are not good enough. Relevant links, forum links and article marketing are far better ways to build links and achieve higher SERP.
It is important to diversify links as much as possible, so directory submissions, article submissions, social bookmarks, profile links and even reciprocal links can help. Blog commenting is also a good strategy for link building.

Guest blogging on niche related blogs is a great way for link building as it not only helps with your search engine rankings but also gets you targeted visitors from the blogs where the post is published.
I have found guest posting to be one of the most effective and probably one of the strongest types of backlinks available. My personal rule of thumb is that the easier it is to get a backlink the less it is worth.

I personally think that social bookmarking can have very little use these days. It’s so easily abused by blachatters that I think/hope that google will have seriously devalued it as a ranking signal.
Twitter/Facebook I think are growing in importance. It gives google other quality signals that you have a brand/following and aren’t simply a spam website.

The guest post delivers very strong links whereas do follow blog commenting is the fastest way to get good ranking but social book marking can help to divert more traffic towards your site having no follow links.

Hi there! I agree with you that creating QUALITY content is the best way to get high quality backlinks because it is the reason readers will keep coming back for more. In all articles I’ve read about link building, this is the most important technique and I think whatever algorithm changes we’ll see in the future, content will still be king.
There’s also another technique I’ve read in an article of creating a plugin or website template that includes a link to your website using anchor texts. I don’t know how effective this is. For now, I’m going to focus on your list here. Thanks for sharing!
