Personally I feel most mistakes made by companies is to focus on SEO exlusively. I mean ultimately the quality of the website with emphasis on user experience is what really matters (sorry for sounding so googlish . Companies can do SEO but first need to make sure that their site is otherwise very human friendly.

Thanks for the SEO advice, especially the URL tips. We tend to think sentimentally and name our domain after our own name or some favorite author, rather than directly addressing the content of the site.

I have been doing SEO for a long time and I always make sure to have reliable keywords on my URL’s so that its easy to distinguish what kind of topic your articles are… and its more convenient to do..

Do you really mean to say that Lack of user Generated Content. Do you most of the top blogs were owned and started which later on progressed as companies or something equivalent. I never want to point out that user generated content or review have no advantage at all but it cannot be treated as mistake.

I personally think that companies rely too much on SEO techniques. Content was, is and will be the most powerful tool to attract consumers to your site. It doesn’t matter how much you optimise your site, if the consumers don’t like your site, they won’t come back.

One thing about the flash and animation types of sites is some of them look great, but they are usually not so great for seo. Same with those into’s and things. Not to mention some of them are rather large in file size and slow the page load time down.

Opinions about SEO methods are really contradicting. In one blog article, I also read that Meta Tags, title and description are not that important and that we shouldn’t pay too much attention to it. I guess the safest way is to just do them right, whether they matter or not, at least you’ll be on the safe side. There’s nothing to lose anyway. Thanks for this.

Doing mistakes with web page SEO may result in big loss, lot of web pages that have good content but do not rank well on the search engine result pages.

I have to agree that the bigger companies shouldn’t be making these mistakes. User generated content is always tricky, and it’s important to have guidelines in place for handling that type of content so you’re not risking a communications nightmare.
