Pixie – A Very Simple CMS

| November 22, 2009 | 3 Comments More

I was just doing my bit of daily browsing when I crashed up upon this. Pixie is a very new CMS. It a simple Blogging platform with much similarities with WordPress. Actually when you see the Pixie front end for the first time you think it is WordPress. But to tell you the Truth, Pixie is simpler than WordPress. The back end is really a lot simplified. It could be good for setting up a site for non technical clients. WordPress gives them too many options…they seem too get awfully confused.

Pixie has a tag line “The Small, Simple, Site Maker” which in a small phrase summarizes its capabilities. Pixie is the first runner up of the 2009 Most Promising Open Source CMS competition organized by Packt Publishing. It came joint second with Pligg, while Impress CMS took the top spot. It is quite a great achievement for such a new platform. It is so simple that any kind of user can operate it. A lot of new themes and plugins are coming up for Pixie day by day.

I like Pixie and it’s good, but sometimes I just find those simple CMS’ to be very nice (in some cases I wished WordPress had their ACP’s) but they don’t have the features I need and so I always find myself using WordPress at the end. :)

  2. Great stuff……..

    I liked it…………..
