It is coming to light that the Redmont Based Software Giant, Microsoft have decided to kill the Kin. For those who do not know about the Kin: Kin was Microsoft’s first branded smartphones targeted at social media using teenagers and had been introduced just about 2 months back.
The Kin was formerly known as Project “Pink” and was first revealed in April and then launched with Verizon network in May. The Kin’s development team will be now be amalgamated with the Windows Phone 7 development team. This step seems to have been taken by Microsoft after the dismal sales. It is also to be noted that Microsoft had slashed the price of Kin to Half after the dismal sales.
Here is Microsoft’s official statement on the Kin:
“Microsoft has made the decision to focus on the Windows Phone 7 launch and will not ship KIN in Europe this fall as planned. Additionally, we are integrating our KIN team with the Windows Phone 7 team, incorporating valuable ideas and technologies from KIN into future Windows Phone releases. We will continue to work with Verizon in the U.S. to sell current KIN phones.”
Even though this does not that Kin is out completely but it clearly indicates that Microsoft is shifting it resources elsewhere and that the Kin has not met Microsoft’s Expectation

well actually Nokia too are thinking of doing a major brand overhaul after losing the Smart Phone Battle to other competitors. They may come out with new smart phones in future, a thing to watch out for

It saw the big trend in smartphones but failed to capitalize despite its immense financial and engineering resources.
And the biggest failure is the marketing considering so few people knew about Kin.
