MailChimp Alternatives

| December 20, 2012 More

There are many MailChimp alternatives, when you are looking for the best fit for your business. VerticalResponse uses social networking as well as email marketing to give your company a wider reach in the world of today, which is so linked by computers. They have been working with companies on email campaigns for 11 years, and they have evolved, even as social networking has.MailChimp Alternatives Aweber iContact ConstantContact

You can easily format VerticalResponse email regardless of how many people you are contacting. You can develop a campaign from scratch or use templates. If your HTML code is ready, just cut and paste it into your email template. You can also use logos or pictures, or create a simple text email.

iContact provides social media services as well as email marketing to businesses that are small, medium sized or premier. Originally known as Broadwick Corporation, they were re-branded in 2007 as iContact. They allow you to create, send and track social media messages and emails, and they currently have a million users and more than 70,000 customers.

AWeber is an autoresponder service that is very simple to use. When someone emails you, this service allows you to set up interesting auto-replies, to keep the conversation up with your customers. They have also branched out so that you can utilize their service for sign-up forms on your site and for emailing newsletters. The service includes advanced analytics that will help in analyzing your performance, and more tools for subscriber segmentation.

AWeber offers an unlimited number of emails, since you’re charged per subscriber rather than per message. They have a variety of styles and templates for signup forms for your site. You can also determine how and when messages from the autoresponder will be sent. Track who opens your messages and who doesn’t. The system is easily set up and used, which is not true of all service providers.

Constant Contact gives you various customizable templates when you want to create your new email campaigns. Blank templates can be made into whatever you want them to be. Designer mode is available, unless you’d prefer to directly interact with CSS (Cascading Style Sheets) and XHTML. You can also paste your own company HTML source code in emails based on templates.

Colors and fonts can be changed, as can backgrounds. Constant Contact also has a WordPress plugin in case you’re working with a blog rather than a website. You are also free to add images, coupons and links, and you can embed videos to make lasting impressions on those on your mailing list. This email service gives you social media buttons including those for YouTube, Blog, Flickr, Yelp, Twitter, LinkedIn, and, of course, Facebook.

GetResponse offers you more than 350 templates for emails, so that you can easily impress your subscribers with their efficient design. They have instant customer support and a competitive pricing structure. You can store up to 1 GB of multimedia with GetResponse, for video-based email marketing. Their intelligent email feature provides you with tracking reports that are highly efficient.

A good overview! I believe it misses some valuable alternatives as Campaigner and VerticalResponse, yet I don’t think it was meant to be comprehensive

    Good post Kori,

Depending on the type of business you have you may want to ADD a CRM into the mix.

After setting up your Aweber account I recommend using a free CRM to manage clients that hire you. They require more follow up than just sending an email ex projects, documents, etc.

I personally use self-hosted script for my newsletter, but just send registration and comment replies through Mail Chimp, this is optimal solution for my need.

    Hi Kori,

I think Aweber tops all of them, in my opinion it’s the Microsoft of email marketing. Although it’s more expensive than other services I like it because it integrates with every WordPress plugin, so it’s more easy to implement it on your blog.

Great post Kori, Merry Christmas mate.

I keep trying to build up my mailing list using MailChimp as a prelude to switching to Aweber. But the numbers just aren’t building. I’m apparently in competition with WordPress with no real understanding how to manage subscribers.

I totally admit it, I think that Aweber might be the best choice as an alternative for mailchimp for professional use. Although honestly, I don’t know all the apps you’ve mentioned before, I’m totally satisfied with aweber and I’ve been using it for years now…

I’ve used Aweber in the past, it’s really not bad. Mailchimp is great, but there is definitely more out there!

    Hi Kori,

Aweber is the best of all. Earlier I used Mail Chimp but they deleted my account without a specific reason, then I shifted to Aweber.

  13. Ravi

I guess Aweber is the best alternative among all the listed.. Mail Chimp users often seems to be complaining about it

Aweber is a good choice, but for a small business that doesn’t have thousands of customer then the free service from MailChimp is a good option. On the downside they are very strict about the content they send out.
