All of us Internet Users, use one of the other kind of Instant Messenger to chat with our family and friends. There are hundreds of companies online who offer instant messengers to their users. Many of us have our own favorite Instant Messenger, but have we ever thought about which messenger must the be ruling the Internet world? Have we ever thought that how many people may be using the same messenger simultaneously when you are using that messenger for chatting. “Live Messenger” is ruling the list! That’s strange! I always thought “Yahoo! Messenger” is the widely preferred and used Messenger Client!

Yahoo Messenger is only popular in Asia. In the US and some European countries, Live Messenger is still the best choice.

This is another great infographic by Pingdom, this time on Instant Messaging. There are some pretty crazy stats in there like the 47 Billion daily instant messages sent, or the 40 million simultaneous logged in windows messenger users. I see a lot of media plans buying Windows Messenger banners, it’s a popular (and pretty cheap) buy, which is clearly due to the serious amount of impressions they’d serve every day!

Another good thing that Windows messenger did to itself was add compatibility with Yahoo Id’s. This automatically increased their clients

Oh Look at Skype!Skype has 560 million users.Skype services are very unique from others.I think that is the reason they have captured much of instant messaging market.

Interesting! It would be interesting to compare IM use with e.g. Facebook somehow. I for one use a lot less IM services and more Facebook and Twitter.
