How To Optimize Your Blog Images For Search Engines
Images evoke various senses within people. They usually communicate more than words can sometimes. However, when it comes to adding images to a blog posting, it is vital to adhere to a few pointers so that your blog will be search engine friendly.
Size – This is significant when uploading your image. Most websites will include what sizes are allowed, but more to this, it is important to note the size because an image that is too large may affect how fast the blog page opens when it’s visited.
Quality – This is an element that should be considered. A high quality image will speak for itself and attract many visitors.
Title – This is also important for your image. Use keywords that appear in the blog as well when coming up with a title. Ensure that the title is not too long and don’t include full stops in between the words.
Image format – There are various formats that are compatible with most sites. These are; JPG, PNG and GIF. These are recommended formats that are commonly used and they are search engine friendly. Furthermore, they affect how fast or slow the image will load once the page is opened.
Alt tags – It is helpful to include ‘alt’ tags to your image as these increase the chances of the image appearing in search engine pages. If you are using blogging software such as WordPress, you may have free Plugins that will assist you with the alt tags.
With the above pointers, you now have an idea of what to look out for to make sure you images are search engine friendly. On the other hand, take note on the number of images to include in the blog. Too many images may overwhelm the page and make the blog lose its importance. What is more, search engines may deem this as over-stuffing and thus rank you low in result pages. Additionally, the upload time may take a while if there are many images and thus not much traffic will be drawn to the site. Depending on the blog size and relevance of information, determine the images that best fit and complete the page.

Good tips, the image size is a big thing. People get huge images from their digital cameras and just add them to their website. The result is a 4-6mb image that could be resized much smaller and less than 100kb without any noticeable difference. Then, take those that add 5, 10, or more images on a given page and yikes…major slow loading pages. It really only takes a few moments to optimize and resize images. There are plenty of free tools to make that happen too.

I never knew that blog images can also help to get traffics of the sites because it can be used in search engines. Thanks for this very informative and well-written article.
As soon as images are unique, not very heavy and properly tagged, this is pretty enough, but this can definitely double traffic from Google images, Bing Images and Yahoo Image search.
It means that when I post an image I should take all these points into consideration. I have never paid so much attention to these points. Now I will in fact.
Alt tags are the anchor text for image links and are also treated equally by search engines. Also they act as visual eye for search engines, so they know which content is on the page. I usually urge all my clients to use alt tags wherever possible.
Alt tag, image uniqueness, quality and size the things that matter, but of course there is no guarantee, so be careful and choose descriptive keywords.

I actually think the title and tag are MOST important! Other than having them at a reasonable quality; we can’t have an absurd amount of jpeg distortion or something.
From my point of view paste a perfect pic for blog post will play a very big role in that. Image should like that which tell many things after a single view by a reader.
