How to Be a Female Affiliate Marketer

| March 7, 2011 | 13 Comments More

Affiliate marketing is traditionally a male-dominated field, but this doesn’t mean there are no opportunities for women. The Internet has made it possible for women to make money from home, take care of their children, cut down on transport costs, and more. If you are willing to invest time and effort into developing an online business, you will see major payoffs.

Advertise Your Way to Financial Well-being

Advertising is unquestionably a great way to make your affiliate marketing business from home popular and prosperous. You must advertise on a regular basis all year round. This way, the market is aware of your services and products, and you are in the news, at least locally. You can achieve this easily if you partner up with a local ad agency. If they take care of this for you, that will leave you with more time to focus on your business. Look through the classifieds in the press for promotions and budget rates for writing good press releases. You can also contact a freelancer – they will charge more reasonable prices.

Work during the Holidays

With affiliate marketing, the best time to work is the holidays. You should always plan some kind of activity for each holiday. Snail mail campaigns are efficient and easy to implement. It is very cheap to make and distribute flyers and postcards. Think of an online holiday promotion, make a flyer with Photoshop or a similar program, and mail it out to your targets. You can drop the materials off yourself if you have a local business.

Scale down

Many women worry about being unable to maintain a steady income this way. This may be a warranted concern. What is certain is that you must have a regular source of income to keep up your affiliate marketing business. Be sure to look at the details and try to forgo the temptation to simply concentrate on some major business projects. Look for smaller projects as well, which can help you generate steady income throughout the year. The products you promote will be based on your budget and financial needs. Smaller projects have a myriad of advantages. These include the opportunity to replace your current business with a more practical option if you start to fail at it and to dispose of a constant stream of revenues.

Stereotyping

If you succeed at it, affiliate marketing will allow you to make a good living and guarantee sales for your partner or partners. Unfortunately, women in affiliate marketing must combat a vast variety of stereotypes. Here is some information about this.

Men are constantly being warned about the trap of flirting and the consequences that may come with it. Yet, business is business and competition is competition.

  3. Honestly, I have no idea what you are talking about. Maybe some of it’s a language barrier, as some of the paragraphs don’t quite translate into English, but the whole thing kind of baffles me.

I’ve been using affiliate marketing for well over a decade and I don’t see any differences between what I’m doing and what men do. The entire paragraph on stereotyping doesn’t make sense. I’ve been married for 25+ year to a great guy, don’t see sex appeal, etc., has to do with any of this.

    • Hi Alison,
I probably think the author wanted to talk about stereotypical males who flirt with almost each and every female. Maybe she is trying to say that affiliate marketers should be able to successfully avoid stereotypes like those to become successful.

Never the less I deleted the lines which did not make any sense. Thanks for the comment Alison

    Hi Melissa

Excellent post. But I disagree with the point – working during holidays. It is to better spend time with friends and family members.

I agree with Alison Moore Smith – the information presented in the post is not correct. I have been visiting and reading many blogs and should say that the number of successful women is not less than men. At present , there’s no difference between men and women what concerns the Internet and online activities.

I also agree with Allison in that some sections didn’t make much sense. I do like the idea of small scale projects though. I have found that focusing on little projects allows me to create multiple income streams and work a full time job. I am a guy but I do not see why the same would not work for a girl. :P

Great post! I agree about working on the holidays. The best affiliate programs are run by people who understand that affiliate marketing is hard work and requires real dedication, even on days when we’d rather be doing something else. I work every holiday (even Christmas), even if it’s just for a few hours.
