Find and Identify That Cool Font Using WhatTheFont

| June 29, 2010 | 16 Comments More

Did you come across a site which has an excellent logo and you are wondering which font was used to make that logo. You Came across another site which is using an awesome font in their content but you cannot recognize it! Had a glance at a banner and simply loved it because of its fonts. Want to know which font it uses so that you can use it in your next project?

If any one of the above holds right for you then I have the solution. I came across a web tool that will help you find and identify the font used in a graphic like logo, banners etc. The name of the tool is “WhatTheFont“.

How to Use WhatTheFont?

Let’s take the example of Blogote.com‘s logo. I really like the logo out there so lets find the font used in it. I just screenshot the logo. Make sure you take a screenshot of only the text part of the logo and not the other objects in the logo. Then go to the WhatTheFont application page. You will come across a page where you will have to either upload the logo file or just paste the location of the logo.

After uploading the logo, click on continue. You will come to the next page where it seems the application seems to determine which characters has been used in the logo. The application most of the time recognizes all the characters correctly but if it does not and some of the slots are blank there then you yourself should write the character in that slot.

Now if you click on continue, you will come to the results page. In this results page, you will see that the application has either found the font which has been used in the logo or either found some very very similar ones.

If you click on any of the font name then you will be taken to a page where you can buy the font.

P.S.: For Optimal Results Please Make sure the letters are not touching each other

I really hope this post was useful. I think this post will be useful to many graphic and web designers. Do you know about any other tool like this. Do share with us in the comments section
