Wow, facebook is winning. I like FB.
I do agree that facebook might be winning but the fact is that people now are concerned with the privacy and security and facebook seems to be doing nothing in this aspect…….
if it goes on on…then the result might be opposite in few months…..

i think it is mostly the share/apps etc. developer features that took facebook ahead of the competition, this particular thing myspace/bebo/hi5 etc. never learnt…

I think the reason Facebook became so dominant and Myspace fell off somewhat had to do with two factors.
1. The interface – Facebooks interface, while not having all the customizations, was much easier to use and much better thought out then Myspace. Ease of use and having a great and intuitive UI is paramount to a successful application (I see Facebook as more of a web application)
2. The Facebook API – The API Facebook has open to developers is much better documented, more powerful, and much easier to use then the Myspace equivalent. Even more important is how quickly Facebook made this availabe to developers and how stable it is.
Those two factors alone made Facebook the choice for the app developers, and the simple interface made it a choice for everyone else. I think Myspace moved too slow once it was bought by News Corp and they just never recovered.

Wow , seems like myspace will be extinct by the end of this year.lol . Facebook is better because it provides a better user experience, except for the privacy part.
The clean layout and easy navigation makes Facebook the better place for networking. Unless Myspace change some of their existing layouts and features they are not gonna be a top notch again.

I heard recently that MySpace wasn’t pulling its weight and the group who owns them has put them on a severe warning. I am thinking its really on its way out this time.
I think also at the point Facebook was becoming mainstream, MySpace was becoming more juvenile. Coupled with the poor interface, and being bombarded with the person’s own playlist was also very annoying.

As per my point of view in social networking platform, Facebook will always score high because of its features, apps, games, and overall presentation of data. My space is also a nice social networking site however it need some improvement..
