Effective Tips for Gaining Regular Readers
Nearly every one blogs these days thanks to sites like blogger, tumblr, and so forth. With the number of bloggers increasing with each passing day, you might wonder how you can set your blog apart from the rest. How do you make your personal contribution to the Web-based World stand out?
There are a few tried-and-true methods for achieving the impossible, and while they sound like common sense you would be surprised how many up-start bloggers don’t consider them. If you want to keep regular readers, or (more importantly) you wish to grab new readers, take the following tips into consideration.
Add Visual Aids
Whether you have the perfect picture to go with your article, or you’ve found a great video that can expound upon the topic of your piece, using visual aids is a must.
While the aim of blogging is to share your written thoughts/opinions on a subject, it is important to remember that humans are visual beings. We react better to information presented to us in a visual medium, and often better retain said information. We also tend to read blogs that are within 350-500 words in total, but with some visual aids you can probably make us read another 250.
Tell Stories, Not Just Facts
While you have a point you wish to get to with each blog post, don’t just saddle your readers with the cold hard facts. An entertaining blog (read: one that gets more visitors) involves the reader. The best way to do this is to tell stories that pertain to the topic of discussion.
I had a friend during college who loved to blog. He fancied himself a writer, and wanted to showcase his talent as such. His blog was mostly about political issues; red state vs. blue state – that kind of thing. It was interesting enough, but he got, maybe, ten visitors to each post. The problem was all he ever did was incorporate statistics. Reading his blog was akin to reading an analysis of quarterly growth for a company you didn’t care about.
I told this friend time and again to tell stories of people whom the issues he brought about affected, but he never listened. Not long before we graduated he gave up the blog and hasn’t done anything with it since.
As humans, we react to stories. It’s been that way since we sat around campfires, dreading the next day’s hunt. If you want to grab your readers, tell them stories that click with your material. Don’t simply inform; enlighten your readers. Nothing does this like a well-told story.
Remember Your Audience
This is crucial. Pick an audience (imagine you’re writing for yourself, and stay true to what you would react to), and no matter what you write make sure that it always plays to that group. Inconsistency will sink your blogging ship in no time, as readers will become confused and alienated. The key is to stay consistent, and to have your content be as organic as possible. Your audience will know the minute you start faking it so don’t let them down, or else they will move on to greener pastures.

I agree with you. Adding visual aids will keep your visitor from being bored and it’s also effective to communicate with your commenter or visitor. Its a good way to create relationship between the audience.

I think what you are referring to is more of a self esteem issue. Self confidence is more of a “trust yourself” thing; self esteem is the “love yourself” part. Better self esteem always leads to better self confidence, although the reverse is not necessarily always true.
I think the tips remember your audience should be the first here and we create a site and wrie posts for some people or visitor and everything we do we should do for our potential visitors.
I agree with “stories not facts” because information on the internet is mostly cold, you get the info but that’s it, no attachment to it. That means branding yourself as a real person and allowing readers to connect to what you write is something that can provide great results.

Make sure you are primarily focusing on a particular topic, and the more specialized that topic is, the better you’ll do. It’s also key to step back and evaluate whether there are enough prospective readers in your chosen niche.
I personally like to read posts which are short, quick to read, no fancy language (remember not everyone has english as their first language on the internet), and with very nice pictures. Also I like it when writers add a fun tone to the post.

I agree with you, reading a post with many paragraph that will took you for ages (ok, a little bit exaggerated) is so boring. I love to read post which are precise and consistent. Funny pictures will also attract visitors to read the whole post.

Visuals and audience are the most important tips as you create everything in your site for audience and even every visual can be for a visitor. Onl in such a way we can be fully satisfied with everything about our site.

No doubt, most important IMAGES… but not a lot, just 3 or 4 max. Obviusly, topic relate images. About “tell stories” I don’t know, I don’t think that so important.
