Diversify Strategy – Reduce Google Dependency
Every company is expecting to get high traffic to company website and most of the time expectations are related to organic traffic and especially Google. Every year is marked by stronger “Googlization” of Internet marketing – organic searches, PPC, currently even YouTube. Is it possible to reduce Google dependency?
Every Internet marketer and SEO is becoming more and more careful with strategy of achieving higher rankings, there are no short-cuts anymore, every ‘black-hat’ strategy is doomed, especially after latest “Panda update“. So many businesses were affected from firstly called “Farmer” update, after that officially recognized as Panda, this is a bit disturbing as not only black hatters and scraped content websites were affected and lost rankings, but as well reliable and trusted websites, but at least top 10 results are clean from article directories. Well, I can say that this is ok for experienced digital marketers, who have already implement social marketing strategies and strong brand building techniques, which can help to reduce this Google dependency.
Another strategy is targeting other major search engines as some are really popular out of English speaking countries. This may uncover hidden markets, but again it depends on business niche and products or services your company offer. Another avenue which is recently becoming popular is mobile marketing, even not everybody have computer or laptop, and for sure everybody have a mobile phone. I suggest diversifying strategy and reducing dependency. There are many direct and indirect ways in one online marketing strategy. The first thing to do is to build strong company name and presence and drive free traffic. Investment in social and mobile application is not very high, but it is great way to build this presence. Blog is another great tool for promotion and syndication, least but not last, look over small social networks or communities which are niche specific and easily can help you build connections that you need.

Google has such a strong influence on site promotion nd it is in every sphere possible, that it is practically impossible to reduce its impact in the modern Internet. As mobile marketing, I think it is still depends on Google.

Well, Ayush I personally don’t see how Bing can get even closer in percent of market search, but honestly optimizing pages for Bing seems a bit more unclear, even page indexing is more difficult, but it is a good idea to get extra traffic from other search engines.

Social media,RSS readers and returning customers are a great resource to get visits without a search engine.
For example during the latest 2 month the 16% of my total visitors comes from direct typing my url on the address bar and 29% of my total visitors comes from a referring site
