I think most of the people came to know about the event yesterday In which Google gave a sneak preview of its much awaited Operating System Chrome OS and also released it’s source code for the open source developers. It has been announced that the full and final version of the Chrome OS or Chromium OS will be released a year from now but Tech enthusiast do not have to wait so long for testing Chrome because the Source Code has already been released.
Techies who know how to install using the source code will install Chrome using the source code but testing for common people and average users chrome has now been made possible because some sites have come up with Virtual Machine versions of Chromium OS.
Till now I have been able to come across two website from where you can find Google Chrome OS VMware versions. The first website is GDGT where I found a VMware version of Google Chromium OS. You will have to register in GDGT first to download the Chrome OS. You will need to download VMware Player (or VMware Fusion for Macs) to get it running. You can also use Virtual Box but according to GDGT “it is isn’t always perfect”.
The other site in which I found a Virtual Box/VMware version of Google Chromium OS is Linux-magazin.de. This version seems to work perfectly with both VMware Player (or VMware Fusion for Macs) and Virtual Box. This link points directly to the download file. You do not need to register here. The username and password are both “chrome”
The size of both the downloads are approx 300 Mb and when unpacked comes upto 700 Mb.
Once again download links:
