Fresh content is king, but without offsite seo it won’t work…unless you have a very special niche. So in my opionion point 4 is the most important part for google.

I like the concept of number 1, I agree with you with it. Google is improving daily, improving their algorithm that’s why the best way of getting more traffic from Google is to make the blog/site active and interesting along with proper SEO.
When you say interaction, one thing I have wondered for a while is how to find an effective way of swapping links with sites in the same niche if they’re your competition. How do people get around this?

Better to take note recently that Google had changed its collection and results showing pattern.They first look for articles from popular sources for those key words, then look for the contributors popularity. Then they show the content in their results. No articles from the smaller site or blogs won’t come up in the results. So a new writer will not have much chance to become popular through Google search, for his articles even if he writes best articles in his own blog. They must go under any of the popular network to promote themselves. It is better to be in digg,Ezine,Squidoo,ehow, about.com and other popular sites to get more traffic from Google if you are a new writer.

Google definitely favors blogs and websites that post fresh content on a regular basis. Sprinkling targeted keywords into the content (especially ones that aren’t too competitive) doesn’t hurt your SE visibility, either.
